My name is Bryan Van Devender. I work for a dot com company and pretend to be a web developer on the side. I spend my entire day hunched over a computer.
I have had a computer in my house since 1978 when my family won a TRS-80 8k ‘personal’ computer. By the end of the year we upgraded to the ultra fast 16k model. 18 months later we moved to the big time by purchasing the ’super-compact’ TRS-80P 64k (P=portable; this meant the monitor was much smaller so as to allow the full keyboard to be fastened onto the front of it).
I am constantly looking for ways to make my life easier. A never-ending quest indeed. Here are somethings that I have found and use everyday that have had a significant impact on my daily life and ability to get things done:
Gmail (Get this service!! I cannot type that anymore emphatically. It’s free…the collateral benefits are invaluable…and Google’s spam filter is second to none)
Highrise (I am in sales and speak to dozens of people every day. I have used ACT! back in the day, Goldmine, SugarCRM, SalesForce, etc….BLAHBLAHBLAH…This app is far superior for Contact Relationship Management)
Netvibes (I use this to keep a snapshot of several dozen feeds and social services immediately available. This keeps me from getting distracted by ’surfing’ aimlessly during the work day…..yeah, right…..Very cool app nonetheless and has a kick butt mobile version too!)
Flickr (Holy Grail of all picture sharing sites.)
