Magma Jewels

I scoured the internet for hours over several days not long ago looking for that one-of-kind-unique gift for my wife. I wanted something that none of her friends or co-workers would have. I expected to pay for this, but not so much that I would have to take a second mortgage (had a friend that actually did that one time for a GIRLFRIEND!) It had to be that unexpected, special something that would just blow her away when she opened the box. I found Magma Jewels.

Magma is a distinctive line of lampworked glass jewelry designed by Blake Van Roekel. Each bead is unique, reflecting the natural flow of glass… hence magma. Blake makes her jewelry at her Portland, Oregon studio where she also fuses metalsmithing techniques with her glass pieces to result in the compelling, colorful and organic shapes typical of her work. Blake infuses her beads with the intangible qualities of beauty, vitality, and passion - qualities which she hopes to ignite in the wearer!

I promptly purchased one of the necklaces. Several days later it arrived in the mail. It was BROKEN!! Man, was I livid? Can you imagine? I called Ms. Blake Roekel to give her some southern charm, but kept my can of southern-whoop-ass close by, just in case. Wow, what a doll! She was profusely apologetic and offered to immediately send out a replacement. She then spent the next few minutes asking me pointed questions; “how did you find the website,” “where are you from,” etc. Questions that a top-notched business person should ask. I was absolutely impressed.

Several days later the new necklace arrived in perfect condition….and my wife was blown away when she opened the box.
